Research Session with Dylan Matthews

Dylan Matthews is a senior correspondent at Vox, where he runs Future Perfect—a vertical that uses the frame of effective altruism to cover politics, research, and policy. He presented on the state of data journalism—offering an analysis of the changing business models of a variety of outlets, then providing some practical tips to academics who hope to get their research covered by the press. Dylan also discussed the role of journalism in political and policy transformation, and recommended Hans Noel’s work on coalition merchants, Alex Hertel-Fernandez on state-level policy, and Matt Grossmann and David Hopkins on asymmetric politics.
