Kyle K. Moore collaborated on 2023’s part 13 of the Millennial Student Debt project from JFI and the Economic Policy Institute. He co-authored a report, “Student Debt and Homeownership Barriers in D.C.,” that addresses the challenges of student loan debt and homeownership faced by young debtholders in Washington, D.C.

Kyle K. Moore is an economist with the Economic Policy Institute’s Program on Race, Ethnicity, and the Economy. He studies economic inequality in the frameworks of stratification economics, political economy, and public health. Prior to joining EPI, Moore was a senior policy analyst with the Joint Economic Committee’s Democratic Staff, where he authored reports on economic policy issues centered on race, class, age, and gender disparities for use by Members of Congress and the public. The Millennial Student Debt (MSD) series unites credit bureau, Census, and IPEDS data to scrutinize changes in higher education policy across the US and US territories. Posts in the series focus on, among other topics, higher education access and school concentration; the impact of the Great Recession; the growth of non-repayment; and student debt trends over the last ten years, breaking down the data by location and demographic. The maps and reports allow a detailed view of the hardships of student debt, at both the granular level of ZIP codes, and at the highest level, the country as a whole.
